Emilia F. Cárdenas, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Emilia received her PhD in Clinical Science from Vanderbilt University. Prior to arriving at Northwestern in 2025, Emilia completed her clinical internship at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Her research focuses on environmental and neurobiological bases of internalizing symptoms, with a particular concentration on depression risk during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Emilia is a postdoctoral fellow supported by the T32 Mental Health, Earlier grant in the Institute for Innovations in Developmental Sciences at Northwestern. Outside of work, you are likely to find Emilia guiding for Chicago’s chapter of Achilles International, throwing ceramics, or exploring Chicago by bike.
